The management and Engineering team counts with more than 20 years of experience and expertise in the MEMS and fiber optical components area. MEMS VOA - BROAD RANGE
BROAD BAND VOA
The VP series Variable Optical Attenuators (VOA) achieve lower insertion loss and better Polarization Dependent Loss characteristics. The VP Sercalo VOAs use a high impedance 0-5 V input port to set the attenuation.

The VX variant comes in a very small package and is ideally suited for integration in subsystems, where cost, size and performance are the most critical factors.

CO-AXIAL VOA
The Sercalo Co-Axial VOA is optimised for low cost applications without compromising reliability and performance. It works with an electrostatic MEMS mirror and comes in an industry standard TO 46 housing.
The VOA is hermetically sealed and Helium leak tested. The assembly is laser welded: it can widthstand harsh enviromental conditions up to 150°C.

BARE COMPONENTS》TF- BARE COMPONENTS
The bare tunable filter component is itended for direct mounting on PCBs. It is optimized for lowest size and is driven by a 0-44V voltage. Changing the voltage changes the wavelength of the bandpass filter.
Sercalo's MEMS tunable optical filter selects a wavelength out of a band. Different variants covering the C or L band are available. The FWHM defines the linewidth of the filter. Currently variants with 0.5 nm and 0.3 nm linewidh are available.
The optical engine only measures (L x W x H) 16 x 10 x 8.5 mm.
Smaller variants measuring only (L x W xH) 14x8x6 mm are in development. Applications range from simple hand held spectrometers to tunable receivers.

The SXLA are latching type switches for telecom and test and measurement applications. The SXLA achieve excellent repeatability and reliability. The single mode SXLA switch passes GR1221 qualification.

The SL series are fast, latching MEMS switches. They maintain the last switching state after power is removed. They are available in configurations 1x2, 2x2, 1x4 and 1x8 with a variety of driver options and a capacitive position sensor. The Co-Axial 1xN MEMS switch is a very small 1xN switch. It's compact design offers a very low size and lower cost than Sercalo's standard switches. Nevertheless it has slower speed and larger wavelength dependent loss than the SW or SL types.

SPECIALTY FIBERS
The SN series are fast, non-latching MEMS switches. Available in configurations from 1x2, 2x2 and 1x4; they are the best choice where low insertion loss and low PDL are most important. The SN switches are also available for a wide variety of specialty single mode fibers such as 630 nm, 780 nm, 850 nm, 980 nm and also polarization maintaining fibers.

Sercalo provides a range of high-performance optical switching solutions for manufacturing, research, and development. With its unmatched solid state performance Sercalo's fiber optic switches are the ideal choice for the most demanding applications including network protection and reconfiguration, single or multi-mode testing and manufacturing, and sensor networks.
The RS Series are all optical switch solutions for demanding applications in fiber optic instrumentation or communication. The rack mountable instrument can switch up to 4 input fibers to any of up to 48 output fibers, independently of data format, wavelength or optical power. The switch supports either single or multi-mode fibers.

Sercalo's Custom Fiber Optic Switch System allows the user to have a configurable equipment to cover his specific simulation and testing needs.
The Custom Fiber Optic System is conceived as a collection of building blocks which can be chosen by the costumer. The heart of the system are the Sercalo MEMS optical switches, variable optical attenuators, couplers, splitters together with kilometers of fiber divided into sections. All integrated in the same instrument to achieve costumer's needs in fields such as measurements, simulations and testing.
The system's inputs are basically the fiber optical inputs and the control inputs. For the moment a serial input (RS232) is available. The outputs available for measurement are the optical fibers themselves together with outputs to measure the energy, s/n ratio, and BERT.
The advantage of Sercalo's switches are their wide wavelength range which covers the full bandwidth of the fiber used. When working with standard SMF fiber a single instrument can cover the full spectrum between 1250 nm up to 1650 nm. For multimode the standard spectrum spans from 700 to 1700 nm.

MEMS GALVANOMETERS
Sercalo's MEMS Galvanometer is a miniature scanner for advanced optical beam steering and pointing. It can be used for static or dynamic beam steering. The 1-D has an optical position monitor for closed loop operation. It has a mirror diameter up to 14 mm. It's best suited in applications where small size and low power consumption are important. It offers a response time of 1 ms and a mechanical rotation of +/- 5
The 2-D devices are operated in open loop and are currently available with a mirror diameter of 2.5X3.6mm.

Electrostatic Micro-mirrors
Sercalo produces MEMS Micromirrors based on different technologies:
Electrostatic driven MEMS mirrors are used in applications where a high pointing stability is required. The electrostatic drive has better DC performance and is the solution of choice for advanced fiber optic light processing such as in MEMS variable optical attenuators, fiber optic switches and tunable optical filters. Mirror diameters range from 0.8 mm up to 2.5 x 2.0 mm.
The Magnetic MEMS micro-mirrors offer larger diameters and are best suited in applications requiring DC pointing together with dynamic scanning. Magnetic 1-d and 2-d micromirrors have a linear current angle response.
Sercalo's engineering team designs, manufactures and tests each component assuring in this way the high quality and reliability that characterize all Sercalo products.
