The LightTrans group is based in Jena, in the state of Thuringia, the historical, and current, center of optics in Germany. Since 1999 our products and services shorten or even enable development cycles of innovative optical components and systems. All activities are based on the fast physical optics design software “VirtualLab Fusion”, which provides ray tracing and physical optics field tracing methods. Our products and services include optical design software, optical engineering, training and consulting as well as prototyping.

The initial versions aimed to develop a virtual optics laboratory software. Starting from the field of diffractive optics, software capabilities extended over the years. Today we address optical systems simulations on a wide range of applications including, but not limited to, laser systems, imaging systems, light shaping, optical metrology, and virtual and mixed reality. The physical fundament of the software algorithms is based on the close cooperation with the Applied Computational Optics Group, at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena.
