Aerospace Optics

Aerospace optics is a broad field requiring extensive expertise numerous leading edge optical technologies, including interferometryheads-up displays (HUD) and precision optical metrology. B-Con Engineering has performed aerospace contracts in all of these areas.

Aerospace optics is a field in which B-Con Engineering has made many contributions, most recently to the Phoenix Mars Mission, but also to the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station. Optical Metrology

B-Con works with techniques such as infra-red interferometry, which is used to gauge the quality of optical components. Classic light interferometry is the key to measuring immense distances across space, and now atom interferometers are being developed to increase navigational accuracy here on Earth.

Military Optics - Night Vision, Infrared Spectroscopy & More

The military optics field represents the leading edge of many technologies, including night visioninfrared spectrometry, and heads-up displays (HUD). B-Con Engineering has performed aerospace contracts in these areas, and in many others related to military optics.

B-Con is certified under the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) of Public Works and Government Services Canada, complies with all International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and works with many prime US vendors in the military optics sector. 

Night Vision

Night vision technology has greatly increased the military's ability to operate undetected in near darkness. B-Con Engineering has partnered with the military, and with military contractors, to improve image intensification, thermal imaging and laser range finding

Infrared Scpectroscopy

B-Con works with multiple infrared elements, including ZnSe, Ge and ZnS, to assist in the development of infrared spectroscopy for night vision, target acquisition, surveillance, homing and tracking applications

Heads-Up Displays

B-Con designed, developed and manufactures the advanced lens system for the imaging display of Pufferfish’s Puffersphere Pro digital video globe. B-Con's projection lens system for spherical format rear screen projection enables dazzling presentations - for entertainment events, large format displays, marketing, and any number of other applications where visual impact is critical.

Automotive Optics - Applied Optics & Optics Design

The keys to effective automotive optics design are efficient light production and efficient use of the produced light. B-Con's applied optics capabilities include integrating diodes and lens systems to create effective automotive illumination with low power consumption.

Applied optics and precision optics design are visible to the automobile-buying public in low-power, diode-based fog lamps and head lamps, and in other automotive illumination applications. However, these automotive optics applications just scratch the surface of actual and potential applications within the automotive industry.
